I think I am going to hold back from visiting the new store (which opens)today for fear of being disappointed at the range of wool and accessories. Has anyone anything to report?
Popped in yesterday (very quickly) and they seemed to have a bigger selection than before and bigger them Peter Jones (the only other John Lewis shop I visit regularly, and was there last week). Definetely more fabric and yarn than before. Still not fantastic though. The rest of the store is great. But I may be biased as I love John Lewis and my mum and I have over 25 years of employment history with them.
I loved the light levels and the way the yarn is easy to reach but I only found one new yarn (Regia sock, which you can already get in Sew Creative) and no jaeger. Also, older Rowan "novelty" yarns (eg romance) have been withdrawn though there are new colours in the Kid silk Haze. I think they've got more balls out than before (the fixtures seem deeper) but the selection is as it was. I know we're better off than towns like King's Lynn but I'd really hoped that with all the hype about new luxury brands of clothing/cosmetics etc they might have added some "luxury" yarns like Noro!
