February knitting dates and a couple of extra events, Cambridge and Ely

Dear all

The knitting dates for February are set out below. As always everyone is welcome to come to any session they fancy.

Cambridge

Saturday 6 February (Stash Swap)
2-4pm, Grads Cafe, third floor, University Centre, Granta Place, off Mill Lane.

Tuesday 9 February (Stash Swap)
7-9pm, Granta Bar, ground floor, University Centre, Granta Place, off Mill Lane.

Friday 12 February - Ravelympics “pre-cast-on” event
6pm onwards, The Bun Shop, King Street, Cambridge. This is a session for swatching, chatting and generally meeting each other, for anyone who wants to be part of "Team Cambridge". We can’t actually cast on our projects because the Olympics doesn’t start till 2am our time on the Saturday morning. More information on Team Cambridge's involvement in the Ravelympics 2010 is available on Ravelry at: http://www.ravelry.com/groups/ktog-cambridge-uk. Directions to the Bun Shop are available here (but don't bother with any of the details, because it's under new management - including the introduction of Aspall's cyder on draft... Food is available.)

Tuesday 16 February (Stash Swap)
7-9pm, The Alexandra Arms ("The Alex"), Gwydir Street.

Saturday 20 February (Stash Swap)
2-4pm, Grads Cafe, third floor, University Centre, Granta Place, off Mill Lane.

Tuesday 23 February (Stash Swap)
7-9pm, The Cambridge Blue, Gwydir Street.

The stash swaps in Cambridge are an opportunity for anyone who has stash (yarn or books etc) that they do not want to bring it along in case someone else would like it. To take part you don't have to bring anything - its still OK to take something home.

Anyone who would like to make a contribution for anything they take home from the stash swap might like to think about donating something to a charity that is helping with the disaster in Haiti. There is no obligation to do so. You might like to look at "pennies per hour of pleasure" . Or you might be interested in the information on the Yarn Harlot's blog, on her continuing Tricoteuses sans frontières/Knitters Without Borders appeal. (Whichever way you choose to do it, the donation goes to Médécins sans frontières/Doctors Without Borders.

Ely

Thursday 4 February
7-9pm, The Lamb.

Thursday 11 February
7-9pm, The Lamb.

Thursday 18 February
7-9pm, The Lamb.

Thursday 25 February
7-9pm, The Lamb.

And an additional crafty event:
Textiles in Focus 2010 is being held at Cottenham Village College from 19th to 21st February.

More details are available here: http://www.textilesinfocus.com/2010.htm. Come along and support your local event!
